La Crescent Brett Saison (Barrel Aged)
On Tap Now
Like Barrel #22, we used a few of our Pinot Noir wine barrels brought in from J Vineyards & Winery from the Russian River Valley of California, filled them with 2014 French Merchant Saison and aged with Brettanomyces (Brett) yeast. Then, we added La Crescent grapes from a family vineyard in Marengo. La Crescent grapes are a white grape, originally bred at the University of Minnesota from a cross between St. Pepin and a Muscat grape. It’s known to produce a floral, fruit-forward style wine, reminiscent of a Moscato wine style. This grape infused sour beer is dry and golden; truly a wine drinker’s delight! Notes of apple, pear, honey, white grapes - reminiscent of Moscato or even Pinot Gris style wine; along with some tart, funky Brett, and oak character. The overall acidity is more pronounced then its sister Barrel #22.
