Gose (pronounced “goes-a”) was a beer style on the brink of extinction in the mid 20th century due to the Soviet occupation of Eastern German and Leipzig, the epicenter of Gose. Food shortages forced breweries to close …and well, let’s face it…lagers remain king in Germany. After the Berlin Wall tumbled in late 1989, Gose made a comeback and spread to other parts of the world. Recently, it has become a smash hit in the United States due in large part to sour beer enthusiasts, U.S. craft breweries and supportive bars and tap rooms. More importantly, it’s quickly transforming palettes to a wider range of sour beer styles. Our new Gose, Pit Master features a clean tart and salt counter punch – the hallmark of the style. Peaches from Western Michigan were carefully ripened and woven into this sour beer to provide a graceful underlay to the beer’s overall flavor profile. Candied ginger was added to lightly spice the beer.
